Wallets ready, fashionistas. The French fashion industry is about to hold a sales event like no other.
The country’s biggest brands have joined forces to raise money for the non-profit organization #ProtegeTonSoignant (something like “protect your healthcare professional”), which supplies supplies to French healthcare professionals, in a unique high-fashion auction.
More than 80 big names have signed up for the La Mode S’Engage auction (“fashion is committed”) so far, including Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Celine and Comme des Garçons.

And, instead of showing old samples, each brand was asked to customize an item from its collection or to create a unique garment.

Any designer who does not have access to the necessary equipment or fabric can send sketches instead of the clothes themselves, offering unparalleled access to haute couture on demand.

The only “rule” is that the item must include a reference to the blue mark of Protege Ton Soignant.
Auction prices will start at € 100 ($ 108) and all proceeds will go to French hospitals and healthcare professionals.
Although the nonprofit was launched just five weeks ago, it has raised more than € 5 million ($ 5 million) for the cause.
The organization uses Instagram every day to also share the effect of their donations. For example, this week’s purchases and deliveries have already included essential equipment, 20,000 shoe covers and financial aid to food suppliers.
